The Philippines is one of the countries that has a long preparation of the holiday season. Since most of its citizens are Christians, Christmas spirit is felt in most every houses from the start of the "ber" month. As early as September, Filipinos started to make countdowns, putting up decorations, Santa Claus figures are hanging outside their houses and gift-giving are already making everyone feels more excited.

In Baguio City, the Summer Capital of the Philippines, the Baguio Country Club opened its much-awaited Christmas Village on November 11. Everyone is welcome to witness the magnificent decor and unique display of lights. Aside from the traditional pine trees, colorful lights and awesome decorations, they added some Pokemon characters to make the celebration more catchy and memorable. No need to go online to chase them all because Pikachu and the gang are available and just waiting to have a selfie with you. Since this archipelago never experience snow, the organizers have given its residents a chance to enjoy "white Christmas" by showering them with artificial snow. Baguio is known to be the coldest city in this country, weather drops 13 degrees or less during first and last quarter of the year. The team that orchestrated the designs was headed by Baguio Club General Manager Anthony R. De Leon and Executive Assistant Manager Marylou B. Galiste.

According to Rappler, "Eighty percent of the materials used in the Christmas Village were recycled, ranging from old sewer pipes, golf balls, used room key cards, and plastic spoons and forks, to water and wine bottles. These were used to make posts, lamps,snowflakes, balls, and variousdecorations that were handcrafted by the country club's employees. Excess construction trimmings such as plywood and steel bars, and bark, twigs, and pine cones that fell from trees within the premises, were also used to build the various structures and Christmas trees."

The Christmas Village is open until January 8, 2017 so everyone still have time to visit. Advance good news for those who want to skip the holiday rush and avoid traffic jam, its the perfect time to enjoy the place sans the hassle of celebrating in crowded street. This is also the time to strengthen your faith to Jesus, the one who was born in Christmas day and the reason for this season.
